All-terrain pushchairs trade city manoeuvrability for bigger wheels, real suspension, and (often) foam-filled or air tyres that shrug off gravel, mud, and kerbs. If your daily walk includes parks, coastal paths, or anything that isn’t flat pavement, the ride quality difference is genuinely noticeable — both for your baby and for your arms.
The trade-off is size and weight. All-terrain models are usually heavier to lift, bulkier folded, and turn less tightly in a crowded shop aisle than a compact city stroller. If 90% of your walks are pavement and lifts, you’re carrying that extra weight for a benefit you rarely use.
A middle ground worth knowing about: several "city" pushchairs now come with upgraded suspension and slightly larger wheels without going full off-road. If you want function over sport-utility branding, check the wheel diameter and suspension spec on any city model before assuming you need a dedicated all-terrain rig.
